The Irish Elk was one of the largest deer species during the Pleistocene Epoch. It stood at 7 feet tall with the largest antlers spanning 13 feet. It weighed as an average of 1300-1500 pounds where as the Moose today top out at 1300 pounds. It ranged mainly in Ireland, Britain and most of Europe. The last remaining Irish Elk were wiped out about 8,000 years ago. 

 

Just imagine seeing this giant of a buck walking through the woods eating grass.
