We all know that many have come before us to fight for our great country which has enabled us to enjoy the freedoms we have. As a Veteran one way for me to continue to show my gratitude for those past and present (including many of my own friends who were KIA) is through my art.

I have taken a green poplar plank and given it new life with the 1/4 recessed background of the eagle and flag looking over the foreground of soldiers in silhouette. The front and center soldier has been carved and burned to produce a desert fatigues look. I painted splashes of red and blue onto the flags with the foreground flag also having pearl on the stars. The soldiers in the background are different based on past wars and conflicts the US has been involved in.

This piece has been sealed with polyurethane for color stay and to protect the wood. Freedom's Sacrifice took 42 hours to complete.

I think this piece would look great on any wall of those who have served, those who have been lost, and frankly anyone who proudly shows their patriotism. I could also picture it hanging within the walls of a VFW or on the wall of any active military personnel. Our freedoms we enjoy today have been paved by those who fought and paid the highest price from our nation’s founding.

I hope Freedom’s Sacrifice finds a good home where it will be displayed with pride and open conversations of patriotism for our United States of America.

Enjoy!
